MerGeo Navigation Events 2014
MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR ADVENTURE!
In 2014, MerGeo Navigation Races will be bringing you more adventure than ever before.
Building on the enthusiasm for our prior clinics, we are now offering a year-round schedule of local navigation clinics for beginners! Perfect for hikers and trail runners who would like to learn practical map and compass skills, and a superb foundation for beginning your foray into navigation racing.
Enjoy the same course setting quality as our dry-side events, but without a half day's drive! This year we are introducing not one, but TWO west-side events. These local events will also offer shorter event durations for bite-size adventure fit for new navigators and families. There will also be more ferns.
Popular for its navigable, treeless terrain and inspiring basalt columns, the scablands of Sprague will again be the site of Rock Creek Ramble, which returns in April to its original venue: Escure Ranch. In the fall will be another event at Cleman Mountain, with its beautiful open pine forests and expansive meadows and its extraordinarily accurate, LIDAR-based map, with superlative contour and vegetation mapping that are a luxury in comparison to the only generally accurate USGS maps that most endurance navigation events use.
